Youth Leadership Development begins with a burning desire. A strong part of it consists of understanding your goals and dreams. It is this concept which largely determines the direction in which you are heading with your life. It can be difficult for youth to be able to reach this understanding, as they are constantly bombarded with various amounts of peer pressure from their fellow schoolmates, workmates or social sporting teams. It is often a hard time to realise what you want to do for the rest of your life when receiving such an overwhelming amount of information.
It can be very easy to become discouraged, and often disheartened along the youth leadership development path. However, there comes a time where it is absolutely necessary to resist peer pressure, or you may future will turn out like the typical average persons. Therefore there are two viable solutions; to become your own independent self or become the result of peer pressure. This means you can either lead your peers in the direction you want to go, or you can change your circle of friends to those who have hopes and dreams like yours.
Tips for your youth leadership development:
- Believe in yourself, really believe. There is not a thing you cannot do if you commit to it.
- Set clearly defined goals, with a deadline, and read those goals twice a day; when you rise in the morning, and before you retire at night.
- Put in the effort, before you enjoy the results; reap and you will sow.
- Commit to continuous and on going personal development
- Keep a positive mental attitude – This is perhaps the biggest factor in youth leadership development.
- Persist to persist: just keep walking, every failure puts you closer to success, so learn from your failures.
- Take 100% responsibility for your life.
Maintaining a positive mindset and mental attitude throughout everything you do is crucial to youth leadership development. By applying this strategy we can change our life by changing the way we look at it. The great thing about it is that if we consistently maintain a positive mindset, it forms a habit in your thinking and in turn your subconscious mind is tricked into believing that you attract all things positive.
Overcoming failure when becoming a youth leader
It’s the old cliché. Everybody fails! It’s true. But don’t let failure defeat you. Successful people are inspired by failures, where as unsuccessful people are defeated by failures. Everything that is of value to you takes time, so stretch yourself and try new things you have never done before. Your youth leadership development skills will rapidly increase when you start thinking, but more importantly acting, outside the square. A great goal to start yourself on the pathway to success is to make yourself feel butterflies in your stomach at least once each day. It is a sign of growth and personal development.
See you again very soon
